About Us
Carmine Marcelli, President & sole owner of Marcelli Steel, began his career as a teenager in 1989 in his home town in Italy. As an apprentice, he learned how to perform welding repairs on large trucks & heavy equipment & machinery. As he moved up in rank, he began swinging hammers during tractor trailer spring repairs & alignments, and creating custom body work and parts for the big rigs. The shop soon expanded, adding structural steel welding & fabrication to its repertoire. It was during this time that Carmine found his passion!
Six years later, he moved to the United States to help his parents, who were also new to the country, start a new business venture. This hiatus, however, never diminished his passion for working with steel, and he continued to perform smaller steel & iron works jobs in his free time. In 2010, 3 years after his family sold their business, Carmine decided it was finally time to follow his dream - and thus, Marcelli Welding & Metal Works was born in Newtown, Ct. It was a small, somewhat unassuming business at first. Their first job was a simple railing in Milford, which turned out well, much like all other jobs by the company. As their reputation grew, so did the need for space and after nearly four years, there wasn't enough room for all the projects the newly dubbed Marcellisteel had to do. With that thought in mind, Carmine began searching for another property & in April of 2015, Marcelli Steel reopened its doors in a nearly 6,000 sq. ft shop in Danbury. With almost 3X the amount of space, it easily allowed for the higher volumes of work & the company just wrapped up one of their best years on record. Marcelli Steel is looking forward to continuing to serve the tri-state area & beyond for many years to come.
